Volunteer Opportunities

Where can I volunteer?

Volunteer opportunities abound in local CBOs, NPOs and in RegenCAN projects.

For example, you can volunteer for the SPCA, Gouritz Cluster Biosphere Reserve (GCBR), etc.

Or you can volunteer in RegenCAN projects developing new infrastructure, and in the maintenance and repairs to existing infrastructure, and other actions that benefit communities.

Or you can volunteer in or pay towards projects working on the 10 interventions of the Cape Ecosystem Restoration Initiative (CERI).

For Cape Prosperity Exchange members, a dynamically searchable list of opportunities is available online on the Rescue SA Exchange website (view via a PC, Tablet, or Cellphone) or use the Cyclos App on your smart phone. The Rescue SA Exchange is based on secure banking software.

Log Your Volunteer Hours

By joining the Cape Prosperity Alliance you can use the RESCUE SA Exchange to LOG (get recognition for) your Volunteer Hours. Volunteers volunteer to projects that are members of the RESCUE SA Exchange and are awarded 1 volunteer (#) token per hour they volunteer by the project they are volunteering at. The “What is Your Number Challenge” refers to a volunteers 1,000 Hour Volunteer Target.

Learning Pathways & edu tokens

Cape Prosperity members get life-time access to the Regenerative Systems Design (RSD) Course

For Cape Prosperity volunteers, edu tokens are key to the affordability of a diverse range of courses. Each new member gets 100 edu tokens when they join. Volunteers can use their edu points to pay for, or get discounts on, a diverse range of local and international online and offline courses.

Furthermore, Access Voucher (AV) tokens are issued to volunteers qualified in Regenerative Systems Design for each hour they volunteer. The AV token rate they receive per hour depends on the level of their RSD qualification. AV tokens are used to access hiking & cycling trails, events, etc. If volunteers need more edu tokens they can exchange 5 AV tokens to get one edu token.
