The ‘1% for the Cape’ Initiative is a social compact between business and society. The triple bottom line — People, Planet and Profit — in action. The best part is that everyone benefits. Sponsors that fund projects get more public attention — a win win outcome! We thus actively encourage people to support ‘1% for the Cape’ sponsors.

The ‘1% for the Cape’ sponsors donate 1% of their turnover to RegenCAN projects.

An Equitable Transition

Community Upliftment

50% of the funds raised by ‘1% for the Cape’ are used to pay for RegenCAN community upliftment projects. This includes the development of new infrastructure, maintenance and repairs to existing infrastructure, and other actions that benefit communities.

For the best outcomes, RegenCAN works closely with communities and local organisations. RegenCAN community upliftment projects will soon be listed in the Cape Prosperity Exchange payments system.

Regenerative Restoration

50% of the funds raised by ‘1% for the Cape’ are used to pay for RegenCAN ecosystem restoration projects. The funds are predominantly used for projects working on the Cape Ecosystem Restoration Initiative.

The 10 interventions of the Cape Ecosystem Restoration Initiative are a key way that the labour costs of the RegenCAN ecosystem restoration projects are funded by private individuals by volunteering themselves or paying for someone to volunteer for them.

Thereby, the funds raised from local business by the ‘1% for the Cape’ initiative can be used to pay for equipment hire and materials.
